This time, ODK Collect was used to help fight with the world crisis which we are facing now: the coronavirus (COVID-19) threat. Inspired by the World Health Organization – Open Data Kit teams digitized WHO’s Minimum Data Set Report Form which is the interim report for confirmed and probable cases.

In the middle of November, we participated in ODK convening 2019 in Seattle.
We went there in 2017 for the first convening and this year we were invited again to help make important decisions about the project we have been working on so hard for the last three years.
The world linked by a unified core code base that accelerates society’s development and improves co-operation in crucial business sectors? Seems like a sci-fi dream? Well, yes, probably a bit. However, the latest project by OpenLMIS, which SolDevelo took an active part in, indicates that this fantasy is not so far fetched at all.
In the middle of May, SolDevelo went for another business trip, this time to the eastern part of the USA: to Ashburn. This small but beautiful city in the state of Virginia is located near Washington D.C.
Our journey started at the end of the rainy season, which is actually not the best time to visit Kenya, due to the number of mosquitoes transmitting malaria. Before the trip, we had to visit the Tropical Medicine Clinic. After a short conversation with the doctor, we were vaccinated for yellow fever and got a prescription for anti-malaria pills.
This time SolDevelo took a distant route to one of the most famous cities across the globe- Hong Kong. Our journey started in November, which is actually recommended time to visit this region- because of acceptable weather and end of “typhoon season”.
It needs no explanation that working on solutions that have a real social impact is in itself rewarding. Still, when the world reminds you that what you do is of benefit to society, one can feel even better about the everyday efforts in delivering the most qualified product possible.
One of our projects for the IRC was about creating a tool which would aggregate and help to pre-calculate huge amounts of data collected by field workers during emergency programs managed by the IRC.
The EBODAC project (Ebola vaccine Deployment, Acceptance, and Compliance) is developing strategies and tools to promote the acceptance and uptake of new Ebola vaccines, to help the right person receive the right vaccine at the right time.
