We are very proud to announce that two SolDevelo apps (Worklogs – Time Tracking and Reports, Multiple Checklists for Jira) have received the Cloud Fortified badge on the Atlassian Marketplace! It is a very important recognition for all cloud services providers who are dedicated to providing the best industry standards for privacy and security. For us at SolDevelo, it is a great confirmation that our ongoing efforts towards safety, reliability and great support are widely appreciated and do not go in vain.
Have you heard of the Cloud Fortified program? If not, let us present it to you in some more detail.
Addressing safety and trust concerns
Long story short, the Cloud Fortified badge serves to identify the most trusted and recommended cloud apps on the Atlassian Marketplace. With over 5,300 apps available there and more and more customers migrating to the cloud, the need to be able to trust the Atlassian products as secure and reliable is more important than ever before. And let’s face it: it does not refer only to one or two products you as a customer choose – it is about the whole ecosystem of products. When you install any Atlassian app, you automatically unlock a whole universe of tools. All of this, naturally, is to help teams work more smoothly together. This is especially true for the largest enterprise customers with more business-critical operating requirements. To them, security and compliance are of the highest importance – without compromising on performance and quality.
But to be honest, the latter is important independently of the kind of user you are. Trust and security offered by Cloud Fortified apps are surely beneficial to all customers. The products that have achieved the Cloud Fortified status have been approved and certified by Atlassian. It means that they meet Atlassian’s cloud security requirements, Atlassian-aligned performance and reliability standards, adhere to stringent support SLAs, and participate in additional cloud security programmes.” To put it simple: they have gone far beyond the general standards to deliver an exceptionally secure and reliable cloud experience. Seems quite crucial, doesn’t it?
The program requirements
Having said all that, it is important to remember that not all cloud apps on the Atlassian marketplace are Cloud Fortified. You can recognise the ones that have undergone the rigorous approval criteria thanks to the Cloud Fortified badge on their listing page and the App tile. Additionally, there is a dedicated app section and a filter on the Atlassian Marketplace website’s homepage for the Cloud Fortified apps.
In order to qualify as a Cloud Fortified app, each Marketplace Partner must meet the requirements such as security, reliability and support. Security is naturally of greatest concern – and Atlassian understands it perfectly. Because of that, they have already released many programs and requirements promoting cloud app security. The Cloud Fortified program, however, takes things a step further. It requires apps to participate in four general security programs and in two, opt-in programs. As a result, Cloud Fortified apps are subject to the four initiatives: Ecoscanner, Vulnerability Disclosure Program, Cloud App Security Requirements and Security Bug Fix Policy. They all serve to identify significant vulnerabilities and – equally important! – verify that partners fix those vulnerabilities effectively. What is more, Marketplace apps have to participate in two additional programs (Marketplace Bug Bounty Program and Security Self-Assessment Program). This is a way to encourage Marketplace Partners to regularly audit their apps and invest in security – it is the commitment to take if they want to receive recognition through badging programs.
Cloud Fortified apps are also scanned for service reliability and performance. They are being monitored according to consistent service level indicators and objectives to assure they are less likely to experience bugs and failure incidents. Thanks to this process, customers can be sure that the apps are compatible with host product changes. In practice, it means that they are simply less likely to break and cause disruptions when host products (like Jira or Confluence) update. The integration allows for faster recovery and quick verification to keep downtime to a minimum.
Naturally, dedicated support is of great value – all users know its worth. When problems are addressed with speed, it makes a whole lot of difference. All Cloud Fortified apps abide by stricter support SLAs than other apps. If you encounter a problem when using your Cloud Fortified app, you can be sure that the Marketplace Partner support team will get back to you within 24 hours. And it will be so for 5 days a week (during local business hours). As Atlassian admits, their goal is to standardize the customer support experience and provide all the necessary tools to resolve customer issues quickly.
It is evident that the cloud is the future – no one would dare to question this fact. As Atlassian has always emphasized that the safety of its users and their data is the priority, they introduced the Cloud Fortified program. All of this in order to help customers easily identify the outstanding apps with advanced security practices. The Cloud Fortified apps are reliable, secure and they meet the needs of all Atlassian Cloud customers.
At SolDevelo, we are very happy to be Cloud Fortified by Atlassian! For us, it means that we are recognised for the ongoing security efforts we are making. But don’t worry – our work doesn’t stop there. We will continue to improve our customers’ experience in all its aspects. You have our word!
